Soul Kitchen was the first "real" band I was in. I remember seeing Jeb walking home from school one day and thinking, "I bet he plays drums." Gordon was Kristen's boyfriend, and he played bass. Jeb and Gordon both knew Andy, who played guitar. Jay was my girlfriend's little brother.

We were all coming from different directions musically, and we'd bring in stuff we wanted to cover - Hendrix, Ramones, R.E.M., Velvet Underground, Doors... the usual suspects. It felt really cool to go ver to Jeb's Mom's house on a Saturday and spend the day working out songs by these "real" bands.

We never really got off the ground to the point where we started writing original songs; Andy kinda lost interest and drifted away and Jay's parents moved. We did play one show out in a field on Troy Highway before we broke up...
